Juice Fasting and Weight Loss

So many people claim to experience super amounts of weight loss from juicing. While it is true that one can lose several pounds on a juice fasting diet, this is primarily and added benefit of the detox and not the goal itself. The primary goal is to relieve the colon of digestion in order to remove toxins stored in the body. One way that the toxins are released is through the urine. This will account for much of the weight loss and is the reason why you should still drink water during a juice detox. Calorie intake is also limited on this plan, so this also accounts for weight loss.
Many people gain the weight back when the fast is over. The key to maintaining a healthy weight is to continue to juice once a day and continue to eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables. The body will regulate the proper weight for your frame.
My advice: Don’t start a juice detox simply to lose weight. Add water, organic foods, and fresh juices to your existing diet, then begin with a one to two day fast. Exercise also helps the body remove toxins and boosts your energy level, so get out there and get moving!
